Speech Title: Hybrid Synthesis of Nano Zero-Valent Iron Using Sodium Borohydride and Palm Waste Extracts
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Siu Hua Chang is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Penang, where she leads the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Research Interest Group (WeResCue). She holds a PhD in Environmental Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2012), as well as a Master of Engineering (Gas) and a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons.) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She is professionally accredited as a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council (UK), a Chartered Member of IChemE, and a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Her research focuses on metal removal and recovery, separation processes, nanomaterials, and clean-energy systems. She has produced 39 Scopus-indexed publications with an H-index of 19 and over 1,200 citations, demonstrating significant international impact in sustainable materials and resource recovery technologies. She has also been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists from 2022 to 2024. Dr. Chang has attracted substantial competitive funding, including multiple national FRGS grants and international support through the MyTIGER France–Malaysia collaboration, enabling advancements in green hydrogen production, sustainable nanoparticle synthesis, green extraction technologies, and autonomous micromotors. Her research leadership continues to drive innovative and sustainable solutions in waste valorisation and clean energy development.
